Wen Ding

Vocal Mercenary

About meWhat I like most about voice acting is being able to participate in the unseen. It’s not only about making up silly voices in front of a mic. Don’t get me wrong, I can do my fair share–listen to my demos. But voice acting is truly about acting.I actually got the idea from a sound engineer whom I worked with when he said: “it’s voice acting, not voice acting.”There’s also the business side, most importantly, the relationships you make. I think that’s one thing business and acting have in common: “relationships matter.”Give it some time to percolate in your head. It will make sense, I promise.Sometimes, I cannot help but think voice acting is somewhat like bounty hunting–the Star Wars variety (weird I know, let me explain).I see my fellow voice actors auditioning for so many gigs and trying to make their mark.I do the same, and, because of that, I am reminded of that one quote Jango Fett said in Attack of The Clones:"I'm just a simple man, trying to make my way in the universe."Hi. I am Wen, by the way.
